One of my client have a Youtube clone site and he wanted to change the embded videos once in a week.
He asked me to send the step by step instuctions as video tutorial.
So I installed Record my desktop software in Ubuntu to create video tutorial.
sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop
Record my desktop was the first main screen recording program released for Linux. It has many options for screen recording however has no screenshot function or webcam viewer included.
Record my desktop produces .ogv files but for uploading to youtube, need to convert the video in MP4 or avi format
Installed ‘mencoder’ to convert the .ogv file using
sudo apt-get install mencoder
Run the below command to convert the video (ogv file name = out.ogv, mp4 file name = final.mp4)
mencoder out.ogv -of lavf -lavfopts format=mp4 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128 -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=1000 -o final.mp4
Also I tried kdenlive a free video editor to remove some unwanted parts from video.
But after installation, sytem get hanged also video rendering taking more time.
So I removed the software
sudo apt-get --purge remove kdenlive-data
